The ZAO,
heard as one system.

For Zaal, with thanks. Your community read as one living system, the moves it is ready for, and three partners who could move with it.

A GRATUS GIFT · FOR ZAAL

Every move.
Every model.

For Zaal. You built the rarest thing in this space: a community where voice cannot be bought. Respect is earned every Monday, has run for more than a hundred weeks, and is written down as a rule: Tokens get markets (WaveWarZ Finals), not votes. zabalgamez.com/llms.txt Most DAOs learn that lesson after a governance attack. What follows is a read of what you have built and ten moves that let it carry more of its own weight, so the network stops depending on you being its front door, its unblocker and its judge.

02 · THE MIX

Five loops play at once.

Our read of your public numbers on 7 October 2026. Dotted lines have not started yet.

THE ZAO AS ONE SYSTEM · OUR READ, 7 OCTOBER 2026Five loops play now, and one is still a proposal

Light a loop to hear it on its own.

All six loops, in words
  1. R1 · The arena's big nights reinforcing: it compounds Big nights make stories, stories draw traders and artists, and more artists make the next big night. One weekend in July carried 35.6% of all the SOL ever traded. Since August there have been three Main Events, and monthly battles fell 42% from March to September. Artist pay averages $1.09 a battle, too small to be what brings artists back.
  2. R2 · Every festival seeds the next reinforcing: it compounds The festival team funded the Season 1 prize pool, and builders made ZAOstock’s site and media through bounties. Four chapters, two documented at break-even, and ZAOstock 2027 already has its date. Break-even means each event pays for the next and leaves nothing over: the loop repeats and does not grow.
  3. R3 · Voice that cannot be bought reinforcing: it compounds Work is ranked every Monday as Respect, and voice keeps people building: more than 100 weekly games by the ZAO's own count, 63 of them settled on chain by July. Respect only accumulates, so early members' weight grows with time: the top ten early holders hold about 53% by the ZAO’s July count.
  4. R4 · The builder ladder reinforcing: it compounds Alumni would stay and mentor, and mentors would pull the next season in. The ZAO's own record says the mentor pairing never ran in Season 1, and Season 2 has no dates. Drawn dotted: a good loop that has not started.
  5. B1 · Everything waits on one person balancing: it seeks a limit Every newcomer DMs Zaal, asks drain his hours, and unblocked people stay. Respect decides ideas and never money, so most asks that cost anything come to him: 48 of the last 50 governance calls came from one address, and in their own words the founder carries most of the capital. Even the prize that helped fund ZAOstock was his own hackathon win.
  6. R6 · A pool Zaal doesn't fill reinforcing: it compounds A small pool filled from outside and released by rule. Funded asks skip the DM, fewer asks free his hours, freed hours make festivals and big nights, and those earn outside funders who refill the pool. Drawn dotted: this is the loop the moves below would build.

03 · HIDDEN TRACKS

What the mix is already saying.

Three things your own numbers already say.

  1. Voice and money never touch.

Respect decides ideas and, by design, has no spend authority, while in your own words “Right now the founder carries most of the capital.” So most asks that cost anything have one place to go. The fence is sound. Its price is that each time you fund or unblock something yourself, the community’s own ability to fund does not grow.

What would prove us wrong: a ledger showing that most 2026 spending was approved by someone other than you, or came from sources you did not arrange.

  2. The arena runs on big nights.

WaveWarZ is a stage that has a market. One weekend in July carried 35.6% of all the SOL ever traded, and one trader 30.2% of the trading on the leaderboard, while artists earn about $1.09 a battle between them (SOL at $116, 7 October). Volume follows the stories of a few great nights far more than it follows pay: critical connections over critical mass, in adrienne maree brown’s words from Emergent Strategy.

What would prove us wrong: in the public battle feed, artists return in step with their payouts more than with their Main Event appearances. That can be checked today.

  3. Your battle rule already answers your governance questions.

You wrote it for the Finals: “a poll on its own is a popularity contest. A market on its own belongs to whoever has the most money. Judges on their own are one room deciding for everyone.” The same rule answers whether tokens vote, who releases money, and how a council avoids becoming one room: Respect is the vote, supporters’ money is the market, a rotating council is the judge, and none decides alone.

What would prove us wrong: members refuse any market signal outside battles, or a two-of-three release still lands every judge seat on you.

04 · THE LIMITER

One limiter on the master bus.

Almost every money loop in The ZAO runs through Zaal.

A limiter keeps a whole mix under one ceiling, however loud each track plays. Here the ceiling is one person’s hours and capital. The front door is “DM @zaal on Farcaster.” The festivals, Season 2 and next year’s residencies all wait on the same stock. Your whitepaper says it plainly: “Self-sustaining, through tools, events, grants, and partners, is the goal, not today’s reality.”

Pushing growth only presses the limiter harder. The way out is a second spend channel: small, filled from outside, and released by rule, so the fence against capture stays standing.

Governance calls from one address: 48 of the last 50Followers on Zaal's account, of his and The ZAO's together: 3,226 of 3,408

Read on 7 October 2026 from the Optimism chain and Farcaster. The ZAO Festivals project on Giveth has six lifetime donors.

05 · TEN MOVES

Highest rung first.

Tap a move to open its structure and its test.

  1. RUNG 2Two of three, for every decision that mattersYour Finals rule says no single signal can hand somebody a win. It also answers your three open governance questions.
    THE STRUCTURE
Respect votes, supporters' money signals, a rotating council judges, and two of three decides: in the Finals, for pool releases and for council choices. Tokens hold the market seat only.
    FIRST PROBE
Publish Battle Rule v1.0 in one place (the docs say the bigger pool wins; the site says two of three), then run one pool release under it.
  2. RUNG 3Count Fractals, not membersOptimism Fractal paused in January for Eden Fractal; The ZAO kept its weekly rhythm and settled Respect on 5 October. Others can copy that rhythm.
    THE STRUCTURE
Package the Monday Fractal as a kit: the rules, the Respect curve and the on-chain settlement. The goal is other communities running it every week.
    WHAT WOULD PROVE IT WRONG
No other community runs it for eight straight weeks within a year. Then cut the kit to one page.
  3. RUNG 3Artist income above volumeArtists have received 1.57% of all the SOL traded. Volume follows a few nights and a few traders; artist income is the mission.
    THE STRUCTURE
Every scoreboard leads with SOL to artists this month and median artist income, and each new mechanic is judged by what it does to those two.
    WHAT WOULD PROVE IT WRONG
Artist share stays flat for two seasons while volume grows.
  4. RUNG 4Turn Zaal's hats into rotating seatsOne DM is the front door, one address made 48 of the last 50 governance calls, and ZIP-1 itself asks for three signers.
    THE STRUCTURE
ZOE and a main-and-understudy pair take the intake, three rotating signers submit settlements, and the council takes the judge seat under two of three.
    FIRST PROBE
One month in which Zaal sends no governance transaction. Count the calls made by others.
  5. RUNG 5Give Respect a half-life before seating anyoneRespect only accumulates: by your July count the top ten early holders hold about 53%. A council seated now would fix those weights.
    THE STRUCTURE
Seat the council by active Respect, using your written split of banked and active with a 180-day half-life on active, while lifetime Respect stays as honour.
    WHAT WOULD PROVE IT WRONG
The council list comes out the same under both counts. Then decay is not urgent.
  6. RUNG 5A pool your voice steers and Zaal never fillsRespect has no spend authority by design, and the founder carries most of the capital. A second channel lifts the limiter.
    THE STRUCTURE
A small public pool fed only from outside (a Dash proposal, Giveth, sponsors, expired arena winnings, if WaveWarZ’s owners agree) that releases only against a recorded ask, by two of three.
    FIRST PROBE
Write the release rule in one paragraph and take it to a Monday Fractal.
  7. RUNG 6One dated source of truthYour sources disagree on the founding year, the member count, the chain and the win rule. Voters read consistency as trust.
    THE STRUCTURE
Grow llms.txt into one public facts page with a date on every number, and log every battle's poll, charts, judge and volume.
    FIRST PROBE
Resolve the five contradictions a funder would meet first, and publish them dated.
  8. RUNG 7One big night a month, on a fixed dateOne Main Event carried 35.6% of all volume. Since August there have been three, and weekly battles fell from 35 to 21.
    THE STRUCTURE
A monthly Main Event on a date known a month ahead, recapped before the next Monday Fractal, with artists paid a fixed fee on top of the 1%.
    WHAT WOULD PROVE IT WRONG
Three monthly big nights, and Quick BattleZ counts still fall. Then the driver is elsewhere.
  9. RUNG 9Give Season 2 a heartbeat: one Sesh a monthSeason 2 has a name and no dates, and the mentor pairing never ran. A loop without a scheduled pulse decays.
    THE STRUCTURE
One Semble Session a month, opened by a main-and-understudy pair, where builders bring one piece of work and leave with signed Steps, until Season 2's dates are set.
    WHAT WOULD PROVE IT WRONG
Three Seshes run and none reaches three committed builders.
  10. RUNG 10Map the rights before the spinoutTwo named LLCs, an unnamed Delaware C-Corporation and the DAO each appear as legal homes for the same work.
    THE STRUCTURE
One public page: who holds which IP, what the DAO licenses and for how long, settled with counsel before a sub-DAO exists.
    FIRST PROBE
List every legal name on one page and ask which one binds users.

06 · THE MONTHLY TIDE · THE ZAO × DASH

A tide that comes in once a month.

A fifth of every Dash block reward goes to a treasury, and about every 30 days the masternodes pay the proposals that pass. Budget nobody asks for is never created. This money arrives monthly, from outside, and only for work on the record.

20%of every block reward goes to the treasury
6,828 DASHthis month’s budget, paid about 21 October
317net yes votes a proposal needs today
127.5 DASHthe median monthly ask, past twelve months

Read from docs.dash.org and DashCentral on 7 October 2026. 1,635 DASH of this month’s budget has no proposal behind it.

The one proposal: independent artists paid in Dash, one month on the record

Small, named and reported first, which is the shape that passes today. Proposal name: thezao-artists-paid-in-dash.

The whole proposal: what it funds, the ask, why it could pass
WHAT IT FUNDS
One month in which twelve ZAO artists get DashPay usernames and are paid in DASH for one public live night, with every payment published with its transaction.
MONTH 1
Twelve artists onboarded with DashPay names. One Dash Night, a Main Event with fixed artist fees paid by InstantSend and fans able to tip artists directly. A public ledger of every payment, and a report before any second ask.
MONTHS 2 AND 3
Separate asks, only after the report: a small milestone pool for ZAO artists released by two of three, then each artist's milestones written to a Dash Platform data contract, and a second Dash Night.
THE ASK
95 DASH for month 1: 60 for artist fees (twelve at 5), 15 for production, 20 for onboarding, the ledger and the report, plus the 1 DASH fee burned at submission. That is about $5,040 at $53.04 a DASH (CoinGecko, 7 October 2026), and 1.4% of this month’s budget. Three months would come to about 270 DASH.
WHAT MASTERNODES CAN COUNT
DASH paid to artists, new DashPay usernames, how artists use what they are paid (spent, sent on, or kept in DashPay), the share of fans who tipped in DASH, and the report delivered before the next ask.
WHY IT COULD PASS
It is smaller than the median, a single payment, named and reported first. It brings independent musicians to a ballot that has not seen a music proposal in years, and The ZAO brings a public record: Respect settled on chain since July 2024, and two festivals documented at break-even.
WHAT WOULD SINK IT
Size and promotion: both music asks in 2018 failed (Dash-CHANT at 31 yes to 304 no), and a 2026 ask to pay a film crew in DASH stands at 27 to 358. Also an owner voters do not know, payments converted straight out of DASH, token noise in the text, numbers that contradict each other, or a missed cutoff.
WHEN
Discuss it in November and aim for the superblock of about 20 December. The docs advise starting at least one cycle ahead.

Five ways the stack fits, ranked

  1. Pay artists in DASH, by nameRAILS LIVEDashPay usernames and InstantSend run today; the ZAO’s use is the proposal. It strengthens artist pay, the arena’s weakest edge.
  2. A shared pool on Dash’s own ruleNEEDS BUILDINGRelease only against a recorded ask, from a public address, with a monthly report. Dash practices the rule; the ZAO pool would be new.
  3. DASH to SOL, for artists who want to battleQUOTES TODAYNEAR Intents quotes about 0.45 SOL for 1 DASH today, a 0.6% spread. Nobody has swapped yet, and Maya does not reach Solana.
  4. Sign in with DashConnectANDROID TODAYLive in the Android wallet on mainnet; the ZAO side would need building. It eases the front door.
  5. Artist milestones on Dash PlatformNEEDS BUILDINGData contracts run on mainnet today; this one would be new. It gives the mentor ladder a record.
Why a monthly tide fits your loops

It is an inflow that is not the founder. Its rhythm nests with yours: about four Monday Fractals to each superblock, so each month's report can be built from four weeks of recorded work. Its report-before-the-next-ask is a balancing loop on promises, the discipline the first hidden track says your money lacks.

The two systems share one moral. Respect is earned by showing up and doing the work, and Dash budget is never created unless someone asks on the record. Spend it on artists and the pool, never on core operations, or the burden only moves from Zaal to the treasury.

Where we stand August is “Contributor And DAO Support Team Director And Guide @ Dash.org”, and the Dash Support Team’s own 108 DASH proposal is not yet on the ballot. Read this section as advice from a friend who works with the venue.

Risks, and what is not on mainnet
  • Price: DASH was $53.04 on 7 October 2026. Budgets are set in DASH and costs are often in dollars.
  • A fourth chain: The ZAO already runs on Optimism, Base and Solana. Give Dash one job, paying artists and filling the pool.
  • More founder hours: proposals and reports are work. A pair owns it, never Zaal, or the move feeds the limiter.
  • Not proposed, because they are not live: tradeable Platform tokens and shielded token pools. General smart contracts do not appear in the Platform docs either.
  • No promise of returns and no investment language about any token, Dash included.

07 · IN THE ROOM · THE ZAO × SEMBLE.CC

In the room: The ZAO × Semble.

Where it stands Semble named The ZAO its first Build Partner in August 2026. So far that lives on our side only: the partner pages are offline, and its compute has paid nothing yet. Read it as an offer, partly built.

The ZAO and Semble, coming into step.

Builders reach The ZAO through one DM, and the mentor ladder never ran. Semble lets a builder bring one piece of work to a dated room that fills by commitment, and leaves a record behind.

THE MOTION
A ZAO builder Inits a Sesh: one line about the work, a day, a place, and how many people it takes. When enough commit, it happens. Each person names their Semble Steps, the room signs what happened, the Steps land on each person’s Trax, and the room credits !MOTUS for what each one brought.
The first Sesh, what lands in Trax, and the test
THE FIRST SESH
In New York, where The ZAO is planting seeds for ZAO NYC. The Semble is WaveWarZ Base, whose repo asks for a technical co-founder. Three builders stand it up, and a ZAO main-and-understudy pair opens it, not Zaal.
WHAT LANDS IN TRAX
Each builder's Steps, such as “ran the contract tests”, and the !MOTUS the room credits. A builder can bring those Steps to the next Monday Fractal as evidence: “Participation is what you ship, not where you sit.”
THE MEASURE
Builders with Steps in Trax from a ZAO Sesh who never needed a DM to Zaal first.
WHAT WOULD PROVE IT WRONG
The first Sesh does not reach three committed builders within six weeks, or every Step in it still needed Zaal to unblock it.

08 · BUILD A WAVE · THE ZAO × WAVES.FUND

Build a wave: The ZAO × Waves.Fund.

Where it stands waves.fund is live today as a student-driven home for building Waves, with Wave Guides you can hire. THE WAVE below is our Motus Model 001, dated 2 July 2026, and its give-back is a proposal.

The arena and the Wave come into step around one artist.

THE WAVE, for one ZAO artist

Artists earn about $1.09 a battle, the festivals’ Giveth project has six donors, and next year’s residencies have no named funding. A Wave lets an artist’s own supporters fund one defined piece of work, with a guide beside them.

  1. Build. The artist’s next release is the work, and it already has a battle record.
  2. The vote. The Finals already were a vote of two signals in three, but no finalist drew real trading, so start with the artist most traders backed.
  3. Three people. A Wave Guide, a builder, and a ZAO alum as mentor: the role that never ran, with one release to hold.
  4. The give-back, proposed. A share to the shared pool, and a share to another ZAO artist’s Wave.
  5. The ripple. This Wave helps fund the next artist’s.
  6. The return: come back as a Motus Mentor.
The first Wave, its gifts, and the test
THE FIRST WAVE
The first ZAO artist residency, carried by one artist: “Artist residencies, where musicians who could not normally be in the same room get a house and a studio and time.” The first backers are the artist's own battle supporters.
GIFTS THAT NEED NO MONEY
Mentor hours, a set at the next ZAO festival, a track for a ZAO compilation. The artist keeps 100% of the masters, as ZAO Music already promises.
THE MEASURE
A Wave holding money from someone outside the team.
WHAT WOULD PROVE IT WRONG
Within 60 days, none of the artist's battle supporters backs the Wave. That would mean the arena's traders are traders more than patrons, which the second hidden track already suspects.

09 · THE SAME WAVE

Three projects already chose the same word.

Your arena, the Waves.Fund home and the Dash builders’ praxis each named themselves after a wave. Out of step, two waves cancel; in step, they add.

THE SAME WAVE · A PROPOSALOne piece of work, written down once (proposed)

Light the loop to follow one piece of work around it.

The loop, in words
  1. R · The same wave reinforcing: it compounds One piece of delivered work is ranked on Monday, opens a Sesh, earns backers for a Wave, gets reported, and the report earns the next superblock, which refills a pool that releases the next work by two signals of three. It holds a check too: no report, no refill, and the masternodes can stop it in any month. Only the first step runs today; the rest is proposed.

One piece of delivered work, written down once, is Respect on Monday, a Step in Trax, a reason to back the Wave, and the report that earns next month's DASH.

Five arena mechanics your structure is ready for

PLAY · RANKED MATCHMAKING

Match artists by rating, so every battle is close

WHYWith 40+ artists carrying real win-loss records, an Elo-style rating lets you pair equals. Close battles draw trades, and every artist wins about half the time, so nobody quits after three losses.

THE MOTUS MOVEQuick BattleZ pair within a rating band; Sunday features pair the top of the ladder.

PLAY · THE SOFT LOSS

Keep the softest loss in music

WHYHalf of the losing pool returns to losing traders, and the losing artist still earns 2%. Loss that does not wipe you out keeps people playing. This is already better design than most prediction markets, so protect it.

THE MOTUS MOVEShow losers what they kept, on the settlement screen.

PLAY · SEASONS + LADDERS

Seasons with carry-over status

WHYSeasons give a story arc and a reset; carry-over (the mentor hat, the 1% cut) gives a reason to return. You already have both. Add a visible season ladder so progress reads at a glance.

THE MOTUS MOVESeason 2 opens with last season's ladder on the front page.

PLAY · THE CREATOR ECONOMY

Highlights as the growth engine

WHYCommunity clips earning points are user-generated growth: every highlight is an ad made by a fan. Rank clip-makers on their own ladder.

THE MOTUS MOVECredit the clip's maker on the battle page, and pay a share of sponsor revenue to the top clips.

PLAY · APPOINTMENT VIEWING

Sunday night is a ritual

WHYCurated Sunday battles are appointment viewing, the live-service cadence that keeps a crowd. Keep the time fixed forever; rhythm is a promise.

THE MOTUS MOVEOne fixed Sunday hour, announced a week ahead, with a recap clip every Monday before the Fractal.
